Motorists stranded as flood cuts off Bauchi-Bara-Gombe highway

Motorists plying the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway in the Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State are currently stranded.

There was a heavy downpour from Thursday evening through Friday morning in Bauchi State that got the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway flooded. The flood cut off the large culvert joining the two roads, rendering motorists stranded. 

 

According, to the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Yusuf Abdullahi, the incident was noticed at about 6 am on Friday. He explained that the road cut-off took place about 10km from Bara along Gombe road. He added that no life was lost in the event.

He assured our sources that they are doing everything in their power to recover the road. He said that fixing the road would take about a week. Motorists driving to Gombe from Bauchi or vice versa via that axis are advised to utilize alternative routes to access their destinations. He said, “There is a failure along the Bauchi-Bara-Gombe road, about 10km away from Bara towards Gombe. What happened is that that place also gave us a problem last year. Our source reports that Bauchi State Government officials are currently at the Government House meeting on the way forward regarding the incident. The press shall be briefed once the meeting ends.
