Other, smaller changes

Android 12 came with several minor changes that you should consider, and these include:
a) HEVC media transcoding: Some Apps come without support for HEVC; hence Android 12 can help transcode it into AVC format for flexibility.
b) AVIF image support: AVIF happens to be an image codec like JPEG or PNG. The format bears the same quality as JPEG but not much storage space on your device. It utilizes the AV1 codec from Android 10.
c) Multi-channel audio: With Android 12, you now have MPEG-H in passthrough and offload modes. The multi-channel audio now supports up to 24 channels.
d) Optimizations for Large Display Optimization: Android 12 now provides optimum support for televisions, foldable, and tablets.
e) Universal splash screens: Material You make your Android user experience to die for. For instance, every app has a splash screen, and this works automatically with or without developer support. Developers can tweak the splash screen to suit their needs.
f) Optimizations for apps: Using Android 12, many other optimizations, such as Google blocking background apps from launching foreground services, come with it. Some further optimization for performance improvement comes with the new Android version.
g) Picture-in-picture improvements: Viewing media under picture-in-picture mode is better now. It transits smoothly, improving the control for a better viewing experience.

4. Security and privacy improvements

Google did little with security and privacy improvements in this Android version. Google opted for extensive and more impactful changes.

I. Microphone and camera indicators

Android 12 has indicators for camera and microphone use and shows at the top right corner of your screen when an app accesses any of them. A color code indicates the active or inactive microphone or camera. You can disable both your camera and microphone for added security.

II. Approximate location

With Android 12, approximate location permission is granted. The approximate location permission allows apps to pinpoint your location every time. You can also choose which permission to allow any app.

III. Smaller security updates

Part of Android 12 includes the following security updates:

a) Restricted Netlink MAC: In Android 12, Google restricts all apps from reading your device’s Netlink MAC address. Before 12, 11 allows only privileged apps to access the address.
b) Bluetooth permission changes: With Android 12, apps can scan for Bluetooth devices without asking you for your location.
c) Device sensor restrictions: Device sensors are now improved and come with refresh restrictions.

Conclusion

Now that you know how useful Android 12 is, it is time to download it. Do not wait, try downloading it for the ultimate Android experience.

Watch out for How to download/upgrade to Andriod 12 on your phone.
