Residents of Mada town in Gusau, Zamfara State, have been forced to flee their homes in droves as bandits attacked the community again on Saturday. This attack would make it the fourth time in less than a week, making the community seek to refuse elsewhere outside their homes.
During the attack, one person was reportedly shot dead, three others kidnapped, and several animals rustled. The fleeing residents stormed the Gasau-Zaria Road seeking any means of leaving their community as the bandits threatened to repeat the attack.
As usual, women and children were the most affected during the attack and were seen bearing their belongings and making the journey on foot. The Saturday attack made many families to be separated as men ran, leaving their families behind to escape the bandits.
An indigene narrated how he escaped from the bandits running into the nearby bush and leaving his family.
In response to the several attacks on Mada, Wonaka and Ruwan Bore districts of Gusau local government, Yandoto Emirate in Tsafe local government, the state governor, Governor Bello Mattawale, has approved the instant closure of all markets and kara in those districts and Yandoto Emirate.
In addition, the state government has equally banned riding motorbikes and selling petroleum products in Mada, Wonaka and Ruwan Bore. He also instructed that all filling stations in the aforementioned areas be closed indefinitely.
