According to the mother-of-two, watching Bimbo Akintola’s performance in the movie Out of Bounds motivated her. Iyabo said she reached out to Bimbo who gave her several tips on acting and introduced her to Keppy who helped in getting her first role. She said:

“How did I start out in Nollywood? Okay, when I was done with secondary school I watched this movie called Out of Bounds, I fell in love with Bimbo Akintola’s acting. watching her on-screen that day I just said this is it.

So the first thing I had to do was go look for Bimbo Akintola. I found her helpfully by one of my friends and I told her I wanted to actress she was very warm, accomodating and then she taught me a few tricks and told me I had to register with AGN and I had to start going for auditions, I started moving around with her and I was going with her for auditions.

And then she introduced me to uncle Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey and his beautiful wife they were so nice to me and one day he just gave me a note somewhere in Surulere so I took the note and I went there and they said she still have to queue. And I was very excited at least for the first time I was going to have that opportunity to work in front of the camera and that was a big deal for me.”
