Is a daily bath important?
For some, it is outrightly preposterous to suggest that people should not have their bath daily or even twice.
This year, we witnessed some Hollywood celebrities saying that they do not bathe their kids every day except when they notice a stink.
Some dermatologists also spoke in support of the no bathing every day idea. Speaking to Essence Magazine, a dermatologist said, "Washing once a day is optimal for social reasons, but it may not be absolutely necessary for your health."
"The more you wash, especially in hot water, the more likely you are to dry out and irritate your skin. You could be washing away good bacteria that naturally help your skin and make small cracks that can lead to skin infections."
Another doctor told Healthline.com, "Washing once a day is adequate for most children and adults to maintain a socially acceptable level of personal hygiene and cleanliness."
During the lockdown due to the pandemic, many people stopped bathing every day. For those who worked remotely, bathing every day might seem optional and one can see why they are not going out, but there are parts of our body that need daily cleaning.
However, for Nigerians, we have to put our humid climate into consideration.
If you sweat throughout the day then bathing every day is imperative, if you do not want to have troubling skin conditions.
An easy solution is to have shorter showers and not to use hot water to bathe because it strips the skin from its much-needed nutrients but for the sake of people's noses, shower every day and use deodorant.
